St. Vincent Spends (some time with the scouts)

Back when I was playing with the new Hype Machine, I came across St. Vincent. I first listened to (or did I watch?) her cover of These Days. Pretty good, even when compared to the incomparable Nico. It’s difficult for this not to come off as mildly sardonic, but her affect is dead-on.
Anyway, I recently picked up her album, Marry Me (please!), and I give it a 9+ (Pitchfork gave it an upbeat 8.0). A video for Jesus Saves, I Spend debuted out last week, and it’s gorgeous and poignant.
I’m inclined to agree with these guys over here.
