Misplaced Thoughts
Cargo Bikes are Amazing
I’m looking forward to a time when I live in a place with a garage… I can assure you that it will be home to a cargo bike. I came across Long John-style bicycles through Velorbis, a company that produces vintage-style cruiser/work bicycles.
The “Long John” is a style of bicycle frame with a long and low platform in front of the handlebars for loading cargo. There seems to be a reasonable following for this kind of bicycle that converges at LongJohn.org.
There’s a framebuilder under the “ANT” marque who is local to the Perpenduum HQ. He builds custom frames and generally makes bikes for cargo and pleasure (although he does make plenty of racing bikes). One of his models is called the Frontaloadontome and is a type of Long John design. One of these bikes can be seen in the Somerville, MA area delivering delicious BBQ from Redbones BBQ.
Now you can finally merge Ride Your Bike to Work Day with Bring Your Child(ren) to Work Day.
