I have liked the idea of making buildings out of shipping containers since I saw the first example of this with the Freitag shop in Zurich.
Container City(TM) offers to plan and build structures using shipping containers. They have a nice gallery.
FabPreFab is a website that offers a listing of prefabricated modernist homes including more information about shipping container architecture.
