  I really like the Trabant 601. I think the body styling is perfect for a utilitarian vehicle but easily crosses over into a sports car (these vehicles have a long history of modification for rally racing). This phenomenon is also apparent in my friend, the Volvo 240. It is at once unassuming and enticing. I came upon a commercial (shown below) for the Trabant from the 60's which shows just how schnell and robust the car is.   Jason Schwartzman parodies MTV Cribs as Louis XVI in the Palace de Versailles. A beautiful example of sacrilege and iconoclasm.   Iceland appears to have a magical landscape. This photo from Flickr user hjaltijakobs reinforces that claim. Sigur Rós, the fantastic band from Iceland, has a remarkable video for their song Glósóli-- embedded below. (You can also download it here, which I actually recommend because you can play it at full screen with higher resolution and without the YouTube logo, which takes something out of the experience.)

  I came across these images of Woody Allen by Rosita Estevez on the Behance Network. They're based on his film "Zelig," in which Woody Allen is the star of a false documentary about a person who has social chameleon effects. e.g. In the company of British ladies, he will become a British lady. For those Woody Allen fans out there, I also just found out (via NotCot) that the typeface used in all his film credits is EF Windsor Elongated.

  I've seen A Night at the Opera many, many times, but I saw Animal Crackers for the first time just last week. All the great people who call Groucho a genius aren't exaggerating. This documentary is an hour well spent. By the way, Groucho thinks his best pun ever was in Animal Crackers.   Yesterday gave us the final installment of Laboratory Conditions, a five-part serial made by Coudal Partners on the road to making another film, 72°. It's oral history. It's about one man and nuclear waste. It's Americana, and it's well worth a watch. Heck, it's well worth a trip to the Black Hole in Los Alamos.

  When people from the Sesame Street (read: my) generation think of Jim Henson's more "mature" work, they often envision the The Dark Crystal. Time Piece is from two decades earlier in his career and is something else altogether—mature subject, awesome motifs, abstract, surreal, l'art pour l'art…shall I go on?
